Legio Lex Talionis
Here is inscribed the Record of the deeds and men of the Legion of Retribution. Originally Legio IV, this Legion is now appropriately named Lex Talionis, known in its history for saving several battles and other legions in the knick of time as happenstance auxillaries upon the scene, or going on punitive raids deep into enemy territory; raids that gained their commanding generals a voted Triumph in Grand Coryan. (The inherited title of Myranticus given to a branch of the val'Assante' being one of these).
Many war heroes have come from the ranks of this legion, known for acts of great sacrifice and bravery as well as overcoming impossible strife and odds, so it is colloquially called the Heroes' Legion, though only by others, as the Coryani virtue of modesty forbids such an ostentatious title. It is therefore a prestigious legion, one of the legions favored by those val'Assante' who become soldiers.
They carry a small golden shrine to Illiir with them into battle, accompanied by legionary Illiirite paladins and priests.
