Welcome to the Arcanis Writers' Resource Page! This page is here to help aspiring writers in the World of Shattered Empires navigate their way through the complex and sometimes confusing web of politics and intrigue that make up the World of Arcanis. It also contains resources for those that need to know the nitty-gritty of how to go about properly submitting material to be published.

Writing for Living Arcanis

• The Submission Process
  • Write up an outline/summary of your intended module. It should be a page or two long, and generally lay out the plot of the module and PC goals. Send it as a .doc or .txt file to:
    • For a main LA module: lamodules@yahoo.com and CC: larcaniscord@aol.com
    • For a LA: Nishanpur module: livingarcanisdm@onaraonline.org
  • Wait for a response to the outline. Please keep in mind that the realities of day-jobs, conventions, and other writing work means that it may be a few weeks. If you don't recieve a response in four weeks, then go ahead and send a polite email to ask if the submission was received.
  • Once you get an outline approved, it is time to start writing!
• The System Resource Document (SRD)
  The txt version of the 3.5 document listing all the WotC material published under the Open Gaming License (OGL). This is the core 'open content' of D&D that you can use in modules freely.
  • The Hypertext SRD
    An online web-based version, more easily searchable, although it has a few bugs (a couple things apparently got missed in the 3.5 update). When in doubt, use the txt file version from Wizards.
  • All writers should note, only resources that are owned by Paradigm Concepts (published in PCI products) or in the SRD (System Resource Document) may be used in writing modules for Living Arcanis. This does not prevent you from creating new material, just be careful that it fits in the world of Arcanis.
• LA Module Template Document
  • At this time the LA Module Template is being revised for Year 4, and will be re-posted when the revision is complete. We are currently using the odd-APL system, and modules may range anywhere from APLs 1-13 for the main campaign.
  • There are tentative plans for a high-level campaign for APLs 15+, but module outlines are not currently being accepted for this campaign to my knowledge.
